What is AutoPrime™ and when should I use it?
AutoPrime is a feature on the EL406, ELx405, ELx50 and MicroFill liquid handlers. By periodically priming the system at a set interval (10-600 minutes), you ensure that the system stays primed and ready to be used at all times.
To enable (or disable) AutoPrime, go to UTIL: AUTPRM (or AUTOPRIME): YES (or NO). If you have an ELx405 equipped with the optional buffer switching module, the AutoPrime routine will use the last valve used in your wash protocol. The AutoPrime parameters (such as the interval and prime volume) can be set from DEFINE: EDIT: PRIME: AUTOPRIME. AutoPrime is not recommended for long time intervals (overnight). With the ELx405 and ELx50, an OVERNIGHT_LOOP or RINSE_AND_SOAK would be more appropriate.
Please refer to your Operator’s Manual in the Preventative Maintenance section for more details on these maintenance programs.
